Freedome is mine
Freedom is mine, mixed media on canvas, 85×85 cm, 2025
The painting portrays the process through which an inner conflict is transformed and ultimately resolved. At the center of the composition appear two birds moving in opposite directions, which may be understood as symbolic representations of the opposing forces at work within the psyche. The descending black crow evokes the realm of the unconscious shadow: it embodies fears, instincts, inner constraints, and those rejected or disowned aspects of the personality. Its movement leads toward increasingly condensed and entangled psychic contents, into the depths of the soul where the process of transformation begins.
In contrast, the white swan emerges as a symbol of ascent, purification, and spiritual unfolding. Its outstretched wings express the expansion of consciousness and the inner impulse that guides the individual toward deeper self-knowledge and transcendent experience. From the perspective of Jungian psychology, these two figures are not adversaries but complementary poles within the same developmental process. It is through confronting and integrating the Shadow that the path toward the Self becomes possible.
The deep blue, vortex-like space evokes the inner landscape of the unconscious, where tension gradually matures into insight and, ultimately, transformation. The painting therefore does not depict a battle between light and darkness; rather, it reveals their dynamic interrelationship and their capacity to shape and transform one another. The swan’s ascent is not a rejection of the crow, but its transcendence and integration into a greater whole.
The work thus becomes an allegory of the birth of inner freedom: a visual meditation on the journey through which an individual, by passing through the realm of the Shadow, arrives at an experience of wholeness, inner unity, and spiritual expansion. Its imagery speaks to the profound psychological truth that genuine transformation arises not from denying the darker dimensions of the self, but from embracing and integrating them into a more complete and conscious existence.
